PHOENIX – Republican Doug Ducey will be Arizona’s next governor. With Ducey holding a commanding lead, Democrat Fred DuVal has conceded the race.

DuVal in his concession speech said he was proud of his campaign, calling it unprecedented.

“I have been moved by the opportunity and the experience,” he said.

Ducey, the state treasurer and a former executive officer of Cold Stone Creamery, has narrowly led in the polls.

Ducey ran on a platform of encouraging small businesses and creating jobs. DuVal was an aide to former Gov. Bruce Babbitt and served on Arizona Board of Regents.

Ducey will replace Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, who faced term limits.
