GLOBE – Volunteers in this Gila County town have dedicated themselves to preserving a different kind of Globe historic sites – its grave sites. The volunteers comb through old records and explore the several thousand plots in the Globe Cemetery for clues on the people buried in unmarked, weathered or forgotten graves over the past 100-plus years. They upload the results of their research to findagrave.com, and from there people can trace their roots or find lost ancestors often with little more than the click of a computer mouse. “It’s important to remember these people, and to try to get the information as accurate as we can,” said Lee Ann Powers, one of the volunteers.
