PHOENIX – The Salvation Army’s bell ringers are well-known around the holidays, as they man the red kettles that collect donations for the charity. What’s less well-known is that some of the bell ringers are among the less  fortunate who are normally served by the Salvation Army, which offers them seasonal work in the kettle drive. For workers like John Banta, who is disabled, the 40-hour-a-week holiday job is more than just a paycheck – it’s a chance to work and feel worthy.
